On April 6, 2022, the journal SN Computer Science published the article called “A Fog-Based Multi-Purpose Internet of Things Analytics Platform”, whose authors are the members of the Smart Energy Systems Competence Center. In it, the technical concepts and prototype implementations developed within the OPTIMISE project, aimed at supporting smart living services through innovative data analytics and data transformation techniques, were also addressed.
The paper presents a system architecture model that supports flexible and near real-time processing of sensor data streams using resources at different network layers (cloud and edge computing). The architecture model was prototypically implemented, piloted in different application environments, and evaluated through a series of experiments. This illustrated the technical feasibility as well as the versatility of the proposed solution.
